Jon Sim

The realization in the declining motivation and drive in Jon's 13 years of financial corporate experience (Regional and Global roles in various Multi National Corporations) prompted the start of his self-reflection and self-discovery journey.

In the midst, he became aware of certain childhood dynamics through the works of a psychodrama therapist and this become an inspiration for him to explore the counselling career. He thus embarked on his mid-career transition journey since Jun 2021 that affirms his belief in the importance of the world of “heart” instead of the “mind”.

Jon is no stranger to the dark moments in life. With the sudden passing away of his dad and being the only son, he had to take up the role of the "man in house". Growing up in a traditional Chinese valued based family, his gay sexual orientation created numerous struggling moments in his self-identity and desire in coming out. Jon is thus very committed to the mental health field, and has previously volunteered to provide queer affirmative and LGBTQ+ counselling (phone and email).

His intensive struggles in life, coupled with his people focused personality, has well equipped him with an empathetic and compassionate disposition for the “heart work” in therapy. Motivated by the meaningful purpose in listening to others, trusting others and himself and aligning with his personal strengths and values, Jon looks forward to helping those in their dark moments in his professional counselling career and building himself up towards his 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙂𝘽𝙏𝙄𝙌𝘼+ 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙮.

there to support each other's dreams

A heartfelt intimate relationship is one where both tries to be there for each other, be there to uplift one another when things go wrong, be there to support each other's dreams and be there to willingly work through challenges and problems. Truly a no pain no gain experience.

Jon is the best! He listens very attentively and helps connect the dots between my feelings, thoughts and behaviours. Ever since I started counselling with him, I have learned how to manage my thoughts and feelings and no longer feel like my world is collapsing all the time when I'm in my low moods. Highly recommend him!

I came to know Jon Sim through my close friend's sister, and it has been such a journey of healing, deep reflections and changes in the way I think and approach certain situations that in the past would have been very triggering for me. My journey with Jon is nearly a year now and whenever I have doubts creeping in, or even when I feel like I am doing well, but I'm unsure if this is progress, I find it so helpful to jump on a call and speak with Jon about it. He listens intently and subsequently gives me constructive notes to reflect on and help me to find ways to engage in more realistic thinking and developing reachable goals. He never imposes his views and just makes me feel safe. Thank you Jon :)

I’ve been having session with Jon for a period and he’s someone who came as very personal and patient. Instead of giving you solution, Jon will listen attentively before analyzing the situation with you. After each session, it made me think back further, and that allow me to be clearer of certain things which I never thought of initially. Jon also respond fast and will follow-up closely with me, ensuring things are going well. Overall, Jon came as one who is responsible and one who allow me to feel comfortable sharing my issue without any judgement. :)
